Walter Schumann – Preparation and Blast Off

A spoken-word space odyssey by the man who scored Night of the Hunter and wrote the "Dragnet" theme (or stole it from The Killers).  Yes, that is--it must be--the voice of Paul Rees, which you may remember from such Disneyland rides as Adventures in Inner Space.  Probably did Mission to Mars too, so he knows the blast-off routine.

The blast-off here is relatively cataclysmic.  Compare Russ Garcia's intro to Fantastica, "the gold standard of outer space exotica", where space travel sounded like the slow waking of a faun on a warm spring morning in the Elysian fields.
