C is for Cunt

Serge Gainsbourg – Requiem Pour Un C…

Well, here C is for 'con', which is French for cunt.  To me 'cunt' has always been a powerfully offensive word, but in England people say it all the time.  "You cunt.  Don't be a cunt.  Oi, who's that cunt?  Hello, cunt.  Nice to meet you cunt.  Cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt."  You know, it's not dirty modern slang, it's a perfectly legitimate English word, a synonym for 'gash'--though I'll admit, 'gash' isn't the most charming word for a person's anatomy.

Anyway, this funky Gainsbourg track comes originally from a 1968 crime drama called Le Pacha.  Check it out on YouTube.  There's a cool scene of Gainsbourg recording it in the studio, as well as some weird experimental dance and lots of hippies shaking their hair with about the same level of authenticity as the punk rock episode of "Quincy".

The scratching at the end of the Spotify track was added by Andy Smith for a nicely eclectic DJ mix album called The Document II.
